To explore the in-depth integration of "labor education" and "aesthetic education" in media convergence practices, and to enhance the new media operation skills and aesthetic cultivation of student leaders, the first session of the 2025 "Dual Integration of Labor and Aesthetic Education—Enhancing Aesthetic Cultivation in Media Convergence Practices" was successfully held in the No. 1 Lecture Hall of the Xipu Campus Library on the evening of November 20. The event was hosted by the School of Electrical Engineering and organized by the School of Electrical Engineering Media Affairs Center (EMC). Guest speakers included Ms. Zhu Ying-yan, Director of the New Media Center of the Party Committee's Publicity Department at Southwest Jiaotong University, and Mr. Ju Hong-wei, Photographer from the Party Committee's Publicity Department (News Center) of Southwest Jiaotong University. The event was chaired by Ms. Zhao Na, a counselor from the School of Electrical Engineering.

Professor Zhu delivered an engaging lecture titled "AI Empowerment: Six Key Focus Areas for News Publicity and New Media Operations." Drawing on her extensive experience in ideological and political work and new media management in higher education, she provided a clear analysis of the opportunities and challenges faced by university news publicity in the era of rapid AI development. She elaborated on the "six key elements," explaining how to plan topics in a way that resonates with audiences, creatively edit content, and leverage AI tools to present new formats and narratives.

Professor Ju delivered an engaging aesthetic education lecture titled "Campus News Photography Practice Sharing." Using his countless precious moments captured at SWJTU, he guided students on "what and how to shoot" in news photography. Starting with the basic characteristics of news photography, he progressively delved into composition techniques, lighting application, and the timing for capturing moments at conferences and events. By comparing and analyzing news photos of varying quality levels, he helped students keenly identify the most newsworthy and visually impactful scenes amidst the complexity of live events.

The training was not only a "recharge" of professional skills, but also a mutual journey of labor education and aesthetic education. Through the two teachers' wholehearted instruction, students not only better mastered the practical techniques of AI-assisted creation and news photography, but also gained a deeper understanding of the aesthetic implications and labor value behind integrated media work.
